Browsing needs no account. The archive is stored on your iPhone and read there. Searching, saving people to your family collection and using the map never send anything to us.
Location is used only while you locate or document a marker, on your device. It is sent to us only if you submit a location suggestion, and only the position you chose to submit. We keep no travel history. Photographs are re-encoded when received, which removes their embedded location and camera data.
Accounts. You sign in with Apple or Google only to send contributions. We receive a stable account identifier from that provider and, if you allow it, your name and an email address (which may be an Apple relay address). Your email is never published. Your contributions show your full name or initials, as you choose.
Contributions (photographs, stories, corrections, location suggestions) are reviewed by a curator before anything becomes public. Reports you file are visible only to curators.
Deleting your account is available in the app under Settings. It removes your account, your sign-in links with Apple or Google, and every contribution not yet published. Published contributions remain in the historical archive under the attribution you chose; you can ask for any of them to be withdrawn.
Living people. The archive does not list living relatives. If you see personal information about a living person, use Report in the app.
